FAQs — Fairford Garden Machinery Service and Repairs

Question 1

What does a standard service include?

Accepted Answer

A standard service covers an oil and filter change, air filter inspection and replacement if needed, spark plug replacement, blade inspection and sharpening or replacement, belt and drive inspection, fuel system check, and a full safety check. We follow manufacturer service schedules to keep your machine running at its best and to protect any remaining warranty.

Question 2

How long does a service or repair take?

Accepted Answer

A routine annual service typically takes one to two working days once we have your machine in the workshop. Repairs vary depending on the fault and parts availability — we will give you an honest estimate when you drop off or when we have diagnosed the problem. We always contact you before carrying out any work beyond the agreed scope.

Question 3

Which brands do you service and repair?

Accepted Answer

We service and repair all major brands including Husqvarna, STIHL, Honda, Kubota, Mountfield, Stiga, Briggs & Stratton, and many more. Our engineers are factory-trained and have over 30 years of experience across garden and agricultural machinery.

Question 4

Do you service agricultural and estate machinery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work on compact tractors, flail mowers, hedge cutters, ATVs, and general estate machinery. If you are unsure whether we cover your machine, give us a call and we will let you know straight away.

Question 5

Do you offer collection and delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we offer free collection and delivery for small machinery within a 10-mile radius of our workshop in Marston Meysey. If you are outside that area or have a larger machine, please give us a call and we will do our best to help.

Question 6

What warranty comes with a new machine?

Accepted Answer

New machines come with the manufacturer's standard warranty, which is typically two years for domestic use. Warranty terms vary by brand and model — we will confirm the exact terms at the point of sale. To keep the warranty valid, the machine must be serviced according to the manufacturer's schedule, which we can carry out for you.

Question 7

Do second-hand machines come with a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Our used and second-hand machines are sold as seen with no warranty. Each machine is inspected in our workshop before sale, and we will tell you honestly about its condition and any known issues. We recommend a service at the point of purchase to give you peace of mind.

Question 8

Will using a non-dealer affect my warranty?

Accepted Answer

Under UK consumer law, having your machine serviced by a competent independent repairer using genuine parts does not automatically void a manufacturer's warranty. We use genuine or OEM-equivalent parts and follow manufacturer service schedules, so your warranty should remain intact. If you have any concerns, we are happy to discuss this with you.

Question 9

Do you use genuine parts?

Accepted Answer

Yes, wherever possible we use genuine manufacturer parts. For some older or less common machines we may use high-quality OEM-equivalent parts — we will always tell you which we are using and why. Using genuine parts helps protect your warranty and ensures the best performance and longevity.

Question 10

Can you supply parts without carrying out a repair?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes. If you know the part you need, give us a call or send us an email with the machine make, model, and serial number and we will do our best to source it for you.

Question 11

How does part exchange work?

Accepted Answer

Bring your existing machine to us and we will assess its condition and give you a part exchange value. That value is then deducted from the price of your new or replacement machine. There is no obligation — if you are not happy with the offer, you are free to walk away.

Question 12

What condition does my machine need to be in for part exchange?

Accepted Answer

We accept machines in a range of conditions, including non-runners. The value we offer will reflect the machine's age, condition, and what work it needs. Bring it along and we will give you an honest assessment.

Question 13

What types of machine do you accept in part exchange?

Accepted Answer

We accept ride-on mowers, garden tractors, push mowers, self-propelled mowers, and most garden and groundscare machinery. If you are unsure whether we would take your machine, call us before making the trip.

Question 14

How do I book my machine in for a service or repair?

Accepted Answer

You can book using the online booking form on our Services & Repairs page, call us on 07999 389610, or email fairfordgardenmachinery@gmail.com. We will confirm your booking and let you know when to drop your machine off.

Question 15

What are your opening hours?

Accepted Answer

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. We are closed at weekends. If you need to contact us outside of these hours, leave a message or send an email and we will get back to you on the next working day.

Question 16

Question 17

Do you offer winter storage?

Accepted Answer
